Sharing the Joy – Good News for November 16

Matthew 25: 14-15; 19-21

Jesus told his disciples this parable, “A man going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.

After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.’

His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.'”

The Daily Path: When I was awakened from my long slumber, God inspired me to use the talents He has given me in a new way. This weblog (blog) is one example. He also inspired me to attend to business (the small matters). Things like building my faith, talking to Him, going to Mass, demonstrating His love to my family so that they might be touched by that love. I will do this because I want to share in God’s joy… and I want others to join me. Don’t worry, I promise not to stand on your doorstep like Elmer Gantry banging a drum, damning you to hell, while shouting revival chapter and verse. That’s NOT one of my “talents.”

(NOTE: You can find out what happened to the other servants Jesus spoke of by reading the entire passage Matthew 25: 14-30)
