Refuge – Good News for January 22

22 01 2010

Psalms 57:2

Have mercy on me, O God; have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge.
In the shadow of your wings I take refuge, till harm pass by.

The Daily Path: Recently I reconnected with a classmate from high school via Facebook. We’ve had some pleasant dialogue that brought back many things I had forgotten about Bern, including his sense of humor. He was the poster child for 70’s fashion in his platforms, bell bottoms and those crazy disco shirts we all wore made of quiana polyester fabric (depicting the most bizarre scenes, like Lewis and Clarke crossing the plains). I also learned that after high school graduation he had gone to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and is still an officer on active duty in the U.S. Army. Yesterday I was saddened to learn that he was just redeployed and will once again be in harms way. Like so many of those serving in the military, Bern leaves behind a beautiful wife of many years and his family.

Please keep Bern in your prayers as he serves his country and leads the brave men and women under his care.
