No Doubt – Good News for April 19

John 20:19-31

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.

The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.” Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

The Daily Path: I was hard pressed and was falling, but the Lord helped me. My strength and my courage is the Lord, and he has been my savior.

Imagine… my story was written in Scripture long, long ago. (Psalms 118:13-15) How can I doubt His mercy?

Room to Chat: Let those who fear the Lord say, “His mercy endures forever.

Deal of the Year – Good News for April 18

Mark 16:9-15

When Jesus had risen, early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. She went and told his companions who were mourning and weeping. When they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

After this he appeared in another form to two of them walking along on their way to the country. They returned and told the others; but they did not believe them either.

But later, as the Eleven were at table, he appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw him after he had been raised. He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.”

Here’s the deal that Jesus is offering:

2. Receive Holy Communion on the Feast of the Divine Mercy.

And here’s what you get in return: Jesus said (1), “Whoever approaches the Fountain of Life on this day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.”

(1) Stan Doubtsall: “Aha! The fine print. I knew we couldn’t trust this guy. He’s a scam artist disguised as a practicing Catholic.” Sorry Stan, you’re wrong. Please take a moment to read about the Feast of the Divine Mercy and Jesus Promise, Divine Mercy Sunday, and St. Faustina
