The Provider – Good News for July 22

22 07 2009

Psalms 78:

They tempted God in their hearts by demanding the food they craved. Yes, they spoke against God, saying, “Can God spread a table in the desert?”

Yet he commanded the skies above and the doors of heaven he opened; He rained manna upon them for food and gave them heavenly bread.

Man ate the bread of angels, food he sent them in abundance. He stirred up the east wind in the heavens, and by his power brought on the south wind.

And he rained meat upon them like dust, and, like the sand of the sea, winged fowl, which fell in the midst of their camp round about their tents.

The Daily Path: I wonder how many times have I doubted God in my own heart? In the midst of anxiety I have overlooked the abundance he has provided… and will continue to provide.

Room to Chat: Father, forgive me for the doubt that creeps into my heart when I am blinded by despair. Even in human suffering you provide. Thank you for what I have been given.

Fear Not – Good News for December 11

11 12 2008

Isaiah 41:13-16

I am the LORD, your God, who grasp your right hand; It is I who say to you, “Fear not, I will help you.” Fear not, O worm Jacob, O maggot Israel; I will help you, says the LORD; your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. I will make of you a threshing sledge, sharp, new, and double-edged, To thresh the mountains and crush them, to make the hills like chaff. When you winnow them, the wind shall carry them off and the storm shall scatter them. But you shall rejoice in the LORD, and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

The Daily Path: Today is a good day for this little reminder brought to you by God

“Fear not, I will help you.”

Note that there is no disclaimer. No small print. God has never been charged with fraud, or trying to take back his memorabilia at gun point, or selling a position of authority next to Him for cash. This is an honest iron clad guarantee.

I don’t know about you, but this is exactly the kind of assurance I want and need… in good times and bad.

The problem is that I’m only human. As such I’m subject to doubt. I may turn something over to God but then take it back instead of just trusting. Join me today in an effort to “fear not.” Let’s turn whatever is troubling us over to God and let Him help us. Remember… it’s guaranteed!
