We Go – Good News for June 8

8 06 2009

Matthew 5:1-12

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

The Daily Path: Oh, to be counted among the blessed. Although it’s an easy road to find, walking it proves much more difficult. Each of these requires us to move beyond ego. If “we go” to God it has to be Without EGO.

Look at the job requirements under Blessed: poor in spirit, mourner, peacemaker, meek, clean of heart, righteous, merciful, willingness to accept persecution.

Each of these requires us to move beyond ego. If “we go” to God it has to be a along a path Without EGO

Think of all the opportunities we have to be blessed… even in just one 24 hour day. How will I do when asked to remove the ME from meek? Can I put ME aside and foster peace when my blood boils with anger in the moment? Will I have the courage to faithfully acknowledge Jesus even if it MEans taking a worldly hit? Am I willing to put My nEeds aside to comfort those who mourn and carry some of their load?

I can expand further, but hopefully you can see my point. The path to God requires WEGO without Me.

Room to Chat: I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Blessed the man who takes refuge in him. (Psalms 34)

Seek the Lord today.
