Remember His Peace – Good News for May 25

25 05 2009

John 16:29-33

The disciples said to Jesus, “Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech. Now we realize that you know everything and that you do not need to have anyone question you. Because of this we believe that you came from God.”

Jesus answered them, “Do you believe now? Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me. I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.”

The Daily Path: No question about what Jesus said. The world is indeed full of trouble. It  takes courage not only to live a spiritual life in Christ but also to survive in this world. Life has become increasingly cheap in the eyes of far too many. Children shoot other children just to gain respect. Deadly insurgencies grip the world. The price of freedom soars with each passing day.

On this Memorial Day let us pray that peace may fill the hearts of all combatants and those who desire to bring violence and war to the world. May God bring home all warriors who give their lives for peace and true justice. Especially all those who have never known peace. May all innocents caught in the crossfire of violence be wrapped in the safety of Christ.

Room to Chat: Make us instruments of your peace.
