John 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples, “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming.
He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”
The Daily Path: Jesus knew his disciples would need help after He left this earth. He would always be with them but more would be needed for the road they faced. God would send the Holy Spirit to bolster each of them.
I see the same plan at work today. I know that Jesus is always there beside me. He waits patiently for me to reach out to Him for help. However, there are times when this truth is veiled by my own weakness. Times when journey becomes increasingly difficult and somehow darkness begins to dim the light through which I see.
That’s when the most amazing things happen. The Holy Spirit arrives on cue, in the moments when I feel most alone on the journey, to refresh my own spirit and hearten me. These Spirit-Tweets are powerful reminders of God’s love that arrive in many forms, from the simplest note to an action several degrees removed that somehow touch me. God sends the Spirit when I need it most and am open to receive. I can’t understand everything, but have faith that one day I will. In the meantime, the Holy Spirit provides enough understanding to get me through.
